At the beginning of this year, we received a contact form submission for this River Falls deck building project on our website from a lead on Facebook. After our free in-home consultation and the submission of a detailed estimate, the homeowners graciously gave us the green light to proceed.

This 750+ square foot total decking project started off as a ‘redeck’ where we planned to remove only the decking, railing and stairs and replace them with composite decking and aluminum cable railing.  It was a balcony-style deck on the upper level and a much larger deck on the main level. However, we realized immediately that this deck, located on the St. Croix River, had a lot of excessive moisture deterioration on top of the joists that was not obvious upon initial inspection. We ended up removing all joists and support posts and reused the existing concrete footings which were basically on bedrock. There were numerous structural challenges we were able to overcome and we are pleased about the end result for this deck replacement.

The entire decking is Trex Transcend Island Mist, including the drink rail, with RailFx horizontal cable railing. Notably, a cable railing gate was installed, and stair riser strip lighting was added after these photos were taken, enhancing the deck’s functionality and aesthetics.

The square footage of these decks is approximately the same as 3 average-sized decks. Despite the challenges posed by one of our wettest seasons, this project was completed in about 3-4 weeks. We are particularly grateful to the homeowners, a wonderful couple, for entrusting us with their deck. We also want to acknowledge the excellent work done by Jerry, Antonio, Daniel, and Jesus, who were instrumental in the success of this project.
