This White Bear Lake, MN Deck Builders project featured Trex Toasted Sand for the main decking and Spiced Rum for the accent. This was a ‘redeck’ where we removed the old rotten wood decking along with the stairs and replaced them with composite decking. Not surprisingly, we had to replace about four joists due to excessive rot. The height was less than 30” and it was a ‘free standing’ deck not connected via a ledger board, so a permit wasn’t necessary. The diagonal decking required joists to be set at 12” on center, and overall, the project turned out great—the homeowner was very pleased.
