SE Minneapolis, MN Deck Build completed just in time for the squirrels to enjoy their new food-collecting surface. This project features Trex Select Saddle decking for both the main surface and drink rail, paired with the popular Westbury C-10 railing in a sleek Bronze finish. The structure is supported by five Diamond Pier footings and one concrete footing. The existing steps previously extended all the way up to the door threshold, which required us to jackhammer and remove part of it to install the new concrete footing. While we often place structural joists directly on concrete steps, this project required at least 2.5″ of clearance—1.5″ for the joists and 1″ for the decking.
