This North Saint Paul, MN Deck Build featured Timbertech Azek Brownstone decking as the main surface with Kona used for the octagon picture frame, paired with Trex Select railings and a deck board drink rail. We also installed six pairs of stair riser lights. The project was a full replacement of the front steps and main deck, with the addition of a mid-landing and staircase leading to the lower backyard level. These stairs were specifically requested to accommodate the two aging four-legged family members. The 8’ railing posts were included for future decorative lighting. Due to municipal restrictions that prohibit our commonly used Diamond Pier footings (despite approval in over 95% of cities), we opted for concrete footings as a more economical choice over helical piles. Designing the footings and beams for the octagon was a challenge, but we’re pleased with the final result.
