Brown treated southern pine with Westbury C-10 railings. We used diamond pier DP-50 footings and during the demo found out the old deck was attached to the OUTSIDE of the old siding and in addition we found out the floor trusses run parallel to the side of the house the deck is attached to creating an unacceptable positive connection. We therefore had to install 3 footings and a beam next to the house for proper structural support. We were able to stagger the support posts so as to not obstruct the lower patio door.
